Comment for a Cause: 3rd Quarter Recap

Wow, the 4th quarter snuck up on us so fast, we didn’t even have a chance to post our 3rd quarter recap in time! Less than three months left in the year – crazy! Admittedly, we did not blog as aggressively as we should have in 3rd quarter, so naturally our comment numbers are a little lower than in the first half of the year - only 8 (yikes!).

Since this is mostly our fault, we're going to up the amount to match our lowest donation to date, which was $20.00 in the 1st quarter. This will be donated to the Arbor Day Foundation.

Our featured charity for 4th quarter will be the American Cancer Society.

Comment for a Cause: 2nd Quarter Recap

Here we are at the beginning of yet another quarter. I cannot believe that 2009 is half over already. With second quarter behind us, I’m pleased to report that we will be donating $35.00 to the Alzheimer’s Association, thanks to the comments from our readers. That’s $15.00 more than we “raised” last quarter, and we’re hoping the number of comments will continue to increase. Our featured charity for third quarter will be the Arbor Day Foundation, so please keep the Comments for a Cause coming!

Comment for a Cause: 1st Quarter Recap

Back in January, we introduced our Comment for a Cause initiative: for every comment posted to our blog, we would donate $1.00 to a charitable organization. We're pleased to announce that we will be donating $20.00 (hey, every little bit helps, right?) to The Humane Society thanks to the efforts of our loyal blog readers.

With the first three months of the year behind us (where did the time go??), it's time to select a new charitable organization for the 2nd quarter, and that charity will be the Alzheimer's Association.

If you've been following our blog, but have been too shy to post a comment, we encourage you to come out of hiding. You don't have to reveal any identifying information about yourself in order to post, although we do prefer that you include at least your first name (when you post, you'll be asked to enter an email address, but this information is not shared with us when the comment comes through).

Comment for a Cause

During the holiday season, we ran a charitable special whereby 10% of the cost of any package booked with Bliss Weddings was donated to a charity of the client’s choice. While we plan on making this an annual promotion, we want to continue our charitable efforts throughout the year, and so we’ve decided to add a new feature to our blog called Comment for a Cause.

Here’s how it works: for every comment posted on our blog, we will donate $1.00 to a charitable organization. Donations will be made on a quarterly basis, and we’ll pick a different charity each quarter. A few other bloggers out there are doing something similar, and we think it's a great way to give back. Since Elizabeth and I are both animal lovers, our featured charity for the first quarter of 2009 will be The Humane Society.

If you’re an existing blog reader of ours, don’t be shy! Sharing a few words here and there will help a worthy cause. Be sure to spread the word to others as well and encourage them to stop by and contribute.
